A straight arm wall light is a fixture that extends its shade from the wall on a rigid, fixed arm, holding the light at a consistent distance from the mounting surface and directing it downward. Unlike adjustable or curved designs, the geometry is fixed — compact, structured, and aimed. This collection offers straight arm lights in single and 2-light configurations across shade families including Warehouse, Deep Bowl, Cafe, Radial, Atomic, Emblem, Angle, Liberty, Homestead, and caged Vaportite designs.
Choose a straight arm light when you want a clean, squared-off line and a compact fixture profile; choose a gooseneck when you want the traditional curved sweep of a classic barn light. Both extend the shade from the wall and aim light downward, so the practical result is similar — the decision is architectural. Straight arms suit modern farmhouse, contemporary, and industrial buildings; curved and gooseneck arms suit traditional and vintage exteriors. Many of the same shade styles and finishes are available in both arm types.
A 2-light straight arm fixture mounts two shades on a single straight-arm assembly, giving one installation twice the directed light. In this collection, the Emblem and Angle 2-light designs fill that role in 10-to-14-inch shade sizes, and Vaportite 2-light fixtures offer the same format with caged-glass shades. Double-shade fixtures suit wide doorways, signs, garage frontage, and interior features like long mirrors or workbenches — anywhere a single shade would leave one side underlit.
Straight arm lights are used both indoors and outdoors — over entry doors, garage bays, and storefront signage outside, and in hallways, mudrooms, workshops, and above shelving inside. The fixtures meet UL requirements and are labeled for Wet, Damp/Dry, or Dry location use, so match the rating on the individual product's listing to the exposure of your spot before installing on an exterior wall. The fixed, downward-aimed design is the same in either setting: focused light held at a set distance from the wall.
Shade sizes in this collection range from 10 inches to 14.5 inches, spanning compact fixtures like the Warehouse 10" and Deep Bowl 10" up to the Cafe 14", Emblem 14" 2-light, Angle 14" 2-light, and Liberty 14.5". As a general rule, 10-to-12-inch shades suit standard entries and interior walls, while 14-inch-and-up shades hold their own over garage doors and wider frontage. Each product page lists the fixture's full dimensions, including how far the arm projects from the wall.
This collection's straight arm lights come in finishes including Barn Red, Vermillion, Bright Yellow, Sea Green, Navy, Light Blue (varies by style), Forest Green, Slate Gray, Black, Cantaloupe, Bronze Matte, Architectural Bronze, and Painted Galvanized. Bold colors turn an exterior fixture into part of the building's identity, while Black, bronzes, and galvanized finishes keep a classic industrial character. Finish options differ from one shade family to the next, so review the specific product listing for the exact colors offered on each fixture.
